PCR-Based LEXAN™ EFR Film Solutions Support Circularity Goals
POLYVANTIS highlights its innovative expertise in PCR resin processing to create a LEXAN™ film that offers equivalent performance to virgin PC film products while potentially offering significant sustainability benefits. The new PCR-based film grades include several flame-retardant and non-FR high-functionality additions to the company’s wide range of graphic, display, electrical, security, and ID card films.
“We are firmly committed to a future where plastics will never end up in our environments, landfills, or oceans,” states Arthur Lu, Business Development Manager for POLYVANTIS in the North Pacific Region. “Our latest innovative PCR film products have been developed to support this vision without compromising the familiar high mechanical properties and surface appeal of polycarbonate film.”
The new PCR EFR film grades are fine matte on one side and velvet on the other. Potential applications include battery packs and adaptors for computers, laptops, and smartphones, heat/dielectric shielding and insulation barriers, die-cut insulators and spacers, labels and overlays as seen in home appliances.
PLEXIGLAS® proTerra Protects Resources
The PLEXIGLAS® proTerra range is based on the material’s ability to be recycled entirely while retaining the same quality. Produced in an efficient manner, the sheet material consists of approximately 90 percent recycled PLEXIGLAS® acrylic. POLYVANTIS uses a proprietary process to recycle production waste and offcuts from retailers and processors into a material that retains quality through the recycling process. PLEXIGLAS® proTerra solid sheets consist of three layers inseparably bonded together. At their core is a thick layer of recycled PLEXIGLAS® material embedded in two thin external covering layers made from new PLEXIGLAS®.
POLYVANTIS fosters a forward-thinking culture focused on continuous innovation and improvement. For decades, customers have relied on the comprehensive product portfolio, capabilities, innovative thinking, and tenacity of the people who make up POLYVANTIS.
